U.S. presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spoke at a press conference for the 2024 Consensus Conference in Austin, Texas on Thursday. Here are some of his comments:

Donald Trump’s guilty sentence

“I’m going to talk about issues that are more broadly focused. I want to focus on economics and health issues. That’s what my campaign is about. I’m not dragged into the mud. I don’t have any ideas. I’ve been very self-disciplined and have not talked about targeting [Joe] Biden or Trump’s lawsuit.”

Views on Trump’s recent cryptocurrency stance

“I’m happy about it. I think it’s a good thing for our country. The commitment to cryptocurrency is a commitment to freedom and transparency. I won’t question whether it’s a political decision. I’m glad he did that.I did it, and I hope President Biden does the same.”

The biggest problem facing US cryptocurrency regulation

“I think freedom of transaction is one of them. We need to have sovereignty over our wallets, freedom of transaction and transparent monetary system. We need to make sure the United States remains at the center of blockchain technology. I will make sure that cryptocurrencies are regulated to protect them.Consumers are protected from fraud. I have purchased 21 bitcoins since I started this activity. I also bought three for each of my kids.”

What will happen to the future of cryptocurrency enthusiasts?

“If elected president, my goal is to make cryptocurrency a transaction currency. People can have freedom of trading. People can choose whether to buy it. I think it should be considered a currency; we should not use it as a capital gain.Tax. I think there is a problem with how we do this. I believe it should be a currency used to buy items like apples, lunches and coffee, and people can do that.”

What prompted Kennedy to run for president

“I thought about going into politics when I was young. I haven’t thought about it for twenty years. I’ve seen what happened during the pandemic and what happened when the government shut down the economy. I think it’s wrong.Close every church, attack the Fifth Amendment, shut down businesses without due process… They closed the jury trial, violated the ban, I saw an attack on the constitution and censorship, not only me,There are many people trying to speak. I see it all, and it’s so immoral to my country. All these traditional values of my party and country are gone and I feel like I can play a unique role to peopleShow what America should look like.”
