South African Bitcoin Ponzi scheme mastermind suffered a heart attack while detained in Brazil

Johann Steynberg, the mastermind behind the Bitcoin Ponzi scheme in South Africa, recently died of a heart attack while under house arrest on a farm in Brazil.According to his Brazilian wife, Steinberg did not leave a will and had no assets to be included.

South African police investigate Steinberg’s death report

Johann Steynberg, a mastermind of Bitcoin Ponzi scheme in South Africa, reportedly died of pulmonary thromboembolic disease in Brazil.The CEO of Bitcoin investment platform Mirror Trading International (MTI) was reportedly under house arrest on a farm in the state of Goias, Brazil when Steinberg died.

Steinberg’s three and a half years in prison sentence has been reduced and has been transferred to the farm at the time of death, awaiting an extradition hearing.As previously reported, the extradition hearing is expected to determine Steinberg’s next destination.

Although a death certificate aimed at confirming Steinberg’s tragic ending has been released online, some in South Africa have expressed doubts about the report.On social media, some users said that Steinberg, who was reportedly buried in Jadindas Palmeiras of Goianya, may have been a well-planned death.Others compared the story of Steinberg’s death to the story of a killer named Thabo Bester, who forged his own death in order to facilitate his escape from a prison in South Africa.

Steinberg’s Mental Health Issues

Similarly, reports from another media show thatAn elite unit of South African police has not yet confirmed Steinberg is dead.

Meanwhile, a Mybroadband report shows that Steinberg’s mental health problems have been worsening.Although no date for the escalation to begin, the report revealed that MTI planner’s attorney Thales Jayme had to take Steinberg to the doctor after an April 15 panic attack.However, 7 days later, Steinberg died of a heart attack.

After Steinberg’s death, his Brazilian wife reportedly claimed that her late husband had neither a list of assets nor a will.
