Cryptocurrency level ranking in 2024 (from F to S)

Author: CyberPunkmetalhead, AESIR Lianchuang Source: Medium Translation: Shan Ouba, Bit Chain Vision Realm

A few years ago I did such a thing, and the crypto currency market changed a lot since then.I think we should have a new level list.

Just like last time, I will rank the top 20 cryptocurrencies from F to S according to the market value, and provide reasons.

Ranking standards are based on the ability to solve the three difficult problems of the blockchain and the utility they brings to the field.

The ranking will consider the distance between each project to solve the dilemma of the blockchain and the effect they brings to the encrypted world. Therefore, the ranking factor is as follows:

  • Decentralization

  • Scalability

  • Safety

  • Public utility

Although the ranking is mainly driven by data, and I will try my best to provide the reasons behind each decision, in the end this is my own explanation and view of each chain store in the above category.

I excludes stable coins, and the principle of each currency will be briefly clear -no need to discuss in -depth.After careful consideration, I decided to include Memecoin this time.

>

With this as our initial settings, let’s start ranking.

F -level -minimum level

  • Kaspa (kas)

>

This surprised me.Kaspa is committed to creating a mobile, boundless settlement layer for cryptocurrencies. If this doesn’t make much sense for you, it is because it is not important.

Reading their mission declarations, I can’t find any special features of this project, except for the zero cost transactions between personal wallets. However, in order to use this, you need to go to the Kaspa faucet and take some change to offset the cost -so the transaction is not free technology.

Kaspa is not decentralized, but they promise to work hard to achieve this goal.Kasta was accused of “influence currency”. As part of the marketing activities, they invested a large number of tokens from influential people.

Regardless of the case of the project, it is covered by the dumping of the influencing of the consequences, hindering the growth and adoption.

Kaspa currently scores very low, but there may be room for improvement.

  • Pepe (pepe)

>

Nothing to say.PEPE is another kind of Memecoin, which can be attributed to “for Meme”.

I can say that PEPE helps to adopt more extensively, but I don’t think that Memecoin, which is highly fluctuated, copied and pasted, and has no sense of direction is the cryptocurrency entry experience that people want.

The roadmap of pepe is as follows:

The first stage: meme
The second stage: VIBE and HODL
Third stage: meme take care of

Pepe is in the F -Class.

  • Shiba Inu (Shib)

>

PEPE’s story is similar. The difference is that Shiba Inu has been sold on the market for a long time. Developers are bored and start to build things on their basis.

More specifically, Shib launched its own DEX -Shiba Swap -it is just a bifurcation of Uniswap, but still -I guess it actually built some things for something?

Therefore, SHIB obtained a higher F -level score.

  • Leo (Leo)

>

Leo is a practical token of Bitfinex. Traders can use it to reduce the cost of exchange transactions, as well as financial instruments that use various loans and other borrowings and other financial tools designed to help traders.

There is nothing to use, of course, we cannot talk about decentralization or security here.

Leo gets a higher F point.

Class D -OK, but there are defects

  • Bo Farm (TRX)

>

TRON was founded in 2017. The original mission was to accelerate the decentralization of the Internet through blockchain and DAPP.If this sounds familiar, it is likely to be accused of plagiarizing the existing white paper in IPFS and Filecoin projects.

In 2018, TRON acquired BitTorrent, which shows that the mission of their decentralized Internet may be true.

Despite the above problems and the image of its founder in the media, TRON is still continuing to develop and becomes the largest settleer of USDT.TRON can achieve the speed of 2000 TPS for publicity at low trading costs, but it is actually close to 80 TPS.

Recently, Sun Yuchen was sued by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Commission (CFTC), and the project seemed to fail to get rid of its suspicious beginning.

TRON’s rating is lower.

  • Bitcoin Cash (BCH)

>

BCH is the hard fork of BTC.

The original intention of BCH fork is to provide higher scalability than Bitcoin. However, BCH’s scalability has not been confirmed.

Unlike the BTCs that we all think mainly as value storage, BCH is competitive in indicators such as TPS and low transaction costs.

BCH can manage about 79 TPS.Given thousands of projects, Bitcoin’s fork is likely to use its early advantages.

Bitcoin cash gets a lower D -class rating.

  • Binance Smart Chain (BNB)

>

The Binance Smart Chain is Binance’s own blockchain. It currently has 2000 TPS, and Binance is trying to raise it to 10,000 TPS, and at the same time, it reduces its cost by 10 times.

My main criticism is BNB fully centralized.Fortunately, if you encounter trouble during use, you can contact their support team.

BNB is among the best among our class D.

C -Class -great potential

  • ICP (Internet computer)

>

When ICP entered the market for the first time, its price soared to US $ 2,000, but a few years later, the transaction price of each token was only about $ 6.The team was accused of poor token management, causing its token supply to the point where it was irreparable.

However, regardless of the price trend, ICP promises to launch a fast and cheap decentralized computing platform as a fair alternative to the market as a fair alternative to AWS and traditional cloud computing.

Since its launch in May 2021, ICP has continuously adhered to this vision, promised to provide some of the most efficient intelligent contract calculations, and the ability to use AI models directly on the chain.

Since the price defeat, ICP has made great progress and can run a full -size application on ICP. This fact is far ahead of most existing smart contract chains.

ICP is a good project, but similar to Tron, it seems to be unable to get rid of the bad first impression it left.

Perhaps over time, it will be able to gain the trust of investors and attract developers to deploy applications on ICP instead of AWS.

Time will prove everything. At present, it ranks low on our list.

  • Doge (Doge)

>

As an independent project, dog coins are not terrible.

In essence, dog coins are the fork of Litecoin, and Litecoin is the fork of Bitcoin. It has enough communities to maintain its decentralization and security. The main problem is that for Memecoin, it is not too practical -and as far as it is concerned, there is no problem.

Because it is the OG of all Memecoin and may promote the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies, Doge has gained an honorary position in the C -Class.

Class B -stable project

  • Litecoin (LTC)

>

Litecoin is an old currency, and some people even think it is a blue chip stock. As mentioned earlier, Litecoin is a Bitcoin’s fork, which has undergone some substantial changes to ensure that it is “lighter” than Bitcoin itself. It uses the SCRYPT hash algorithm instead of the SHA-256 encryption algorithm, which generates 1 block every 2.5 minutes, while Bitcoin is 10 minutes.

However, around 56 TPS, there are many other faster alternatives. The only LTC can ensure that the future is developing the first advantage, but it lacks a strong selling point.

Litecoin ranks low in Class B.If you have seen my previous list, you will notice that I have improved it from C -Class.

  • Ripple (XRP)

>

I once joked that Ripple is a stable currency -but they have been struggling for the future of this industry, which is commendable.

Ripple is facing the banking system, and its mission is to change the operation of global banks.

Ripple actually did a lot of things behind the scenes, such as cooperating with global banks to create general turntables that can be used by all banking institutions.

Ripple has obtained a solid B point B because of promoting supervision.

  • Near protocol (Near)

>

The Near protocol is an scalable blockchain that focuses on availability and user experience. It uses shards in the background to achieve high transaction throughput, but it does not bring the burden on understanding the network partition to users or developers.

Because of its friendly method for developers, it is relatively simple to develop DAPP on Near compared with his chain. It also has a humanized account name and other small QOL functions, which is very valuable for users who want to join the field.

NEAR’s theory TPS is 100,000, but it currently only reaches more than 100 points, so there is still a long way to go.

NEAR has received a higher B -level evaluation because it has innovation and potential, especially because it is committed to making this field not so chaotic -this is urgently needed.

  • base (base)

>

Base is the L2 solution provided by Coinbase for Ethereum network.Unlike BNB, which is fully centralized and managed by Binance, Base is committed to achieving decentralization. However, it is worth noting that Base has not fulfilled its promise.

Base is using account abstraction to simplify the developer experience when building on Ethereum, so as to improve the adoption rate and create better software.

The only reason for Base is included in the B level is that I have confidence in it.Theoretically, it sounds great, but there are several considerations, including its dependence on Coinbase.

If it exists for a period of time and is still in a future, it is likely to be ranked C -Class.

  • Avalanche (Avax)

>

Avalanche is a general smart contract platform for decentralized applications.

It uses the unique settings of 3 blockchain to work together to provide scalable solutions for rapidly growing DAPPS.

The Avax ecosystem currently includes Pangolin, Sushiswap, Uniswap, etc.The only thing that tired of Avax is the recent security issues and hacking attacks, with a total of 100 million US dollars.

Therefore, its ranking will not be higher than the B level.

Class A -Excellent Project

  • Uniswap (uni)

>

UNISWAP is a leading decentralized exchange (DEX) based on EVM.In many ways, it is the originator of most modern DEX, and you may find some codes from the UNISWAP fork in most DEX.

UNISWAP has made great contributions to the industry in terms of adoption and availability.

Uniswap received a solid A -level rating.

  • Cardano (ada)

>

Cardano has gained the status of the A -level project because of its smart contract platform, but it is mainly because it is already a household name for a long time.

Despite the platform that has not been available for more than 5 years, Cardano has successfully maintained its top 10 position in its market value.

Cardano’s long -term vision is to build something called Realfi (real world DEFI).It has both strong security and extensive functions.Cardano has never claimed that he is the best in a particular field, but maintains a unique balance in most fields.

After understanding Cardano, the sun will collapse before Realfi appears, but you never know.I barely give it an A -level position.

  • Solna (SOL)

>

I must admit that I have encountered difficulties in this regard.Solana has been taking the right action recently. With the launch of Token Extensions, it is indeed a force that cannot be underestimated in this field.

This is not to say that Solana has no problem. The chain has stopped many times in the past, and the transaction sometimes seems to be hung. From a good perspective, it has a dynamic and developing ecosystem, community adoption, vision, and a large number of cases. The only reason for me not to give it a solid A rating is the occasional chain stop problem, which has not been resolved so far. However, overall, Solana’s prospects are bright.

This is why it ranks among the A -level ranks.

  • Polygon (MATIC)

>

Polygon’s role in the field of cryptocurrencies is absolutely vital, and it is the first L2 that has been proven to work efficiently without much dramatic L2.

Polygon has become an expansion solution for the Ethereum L2 with the ZK Rollup expansion solution and side chain. They have done a good job in innovating the field and alleviating Ethereum congestion.

However, as the L2 field becomes more and more crowded, Polygon can no longer be satisfied with its premier advantage, and needs to continue innovation to maintain correlation.

Polygon received a solid A -level rating.

  • Pokka (dot)

>

Polkadot is great. It followed closely and continued to achieve milestone achievements, and there were no dramatic events on other chains. If you exclude the recent marketing defeat, you will find that Polkadot’s marketing team is basically just burning money.

However, this does not affect the fundamentals.

As a smart contract platform, its parallel chain implementation may be a bit advanced, and many users in this field may have realized the real use cases of parallel chains, but Polkadot is actually the only alternative currency with blue chip potential -this is A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A in A.The top reasons for the list.

S -Class -Blue Chip/Legend

  • Bitcoin (BTC)

>

Let’s make it clear here. As the initiator of all this, BTC has gained an honorary location at the bottom of the S list.

It is not the fastest network or the cheapest network. In fact, without the lightning network (the lightning network has not been fully launched), it is almost impossible. But it is the safest way to store it.

  • Ethereum (ETH)

>

The first of our level list belongs to Ethereum, which is the first smart contract platform to introduce Web3 here.

It completely changes the encryption field and is still crucial because of its practicality, so it will continue to change. It has been supported by many second -level solutions to alleviate network congestion and is generally loved by the industry for all contributions to the field.

Ethereum has a talented development team, and it becomes better and better over time.I think it should top the list.

The following is a complete list of levels:
