finally!The Ethereum Foundation has established a dAI team and I would like to ask: Why did you go early?
I have repeatedly emphasized in many articles before that AI Agent will become the “redemption” of many Crypto narratives.If Ethereum wants to consolidate the positioning of the global public chain decentralization and secure settlement layer, its technical debt is already too heavy. It needs a new application scenario that can refresh the old technology, which is likely to be an AI Agent.
So, what are the highlights of what this dAI team plans to do?
1) To implement “AI Economy on Ethereum”, let AI Agents independently pay and coordinate on-chain and remove intermediaries, this will require the maturity of many other AI infra components:
For example, AI Memory context memory solution, AI Oracle real-time dynamic price feeding solution, AI Processor or Multi-Agents autonomous coordination management and scheduling platform, AI Agent autonomous DAO governance solution, etc.;
According to the past tradition of @VitalikButerin referring to wherever it is, will it drive a wave of AI component innovation in the Ethereum ecosystem?
2) As for the Decentralized AI Stack, it shouted the AI infrastructure slogan of “open, verifiable, and censorship-resistant”, but the problem is that “openness” and “censorship-resistant” almost do not exist at this stage.
Because the core computing power and models are in the hands of giants such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, before decentralized computing power, algorithms, and federated learning are mature and large-scale applications, web3AI is completely restrained by an API hook and has no initiative at all.
The only credible thing at present is “verifiability”. The AI Agent scenario can apply ZK-Proof, TEE and other technologies on a large scale, which will bring more imagination space to the ZK track.
As for the ERC-8004 goal mentioned in the announcement to solve the AI Agent’s identity verification standard, I do not think it is an innovation starting point, but it seems that any technological budding innovation on Ethereum will start with setting standards.
As for the concept of d/acc, it is even more touching, but it is not important. If Ethereum wants to truly become the “neutral base layer” of AI, it requires not only technical standards, but also quick follow-up of killer applications and developer ecosystems.
