Revisited with you on Token 2049.

During my visit to Singapore at the end of August, I visited the Sun Yat-sen Nanyang Memorial Hall. I was moved by the persistent belief of the revolutionary sages in the republic, so I wrote this article to commemorate it.

Since the founding of the China Tongmenghui, the revolutionaries led by Sun Yat-sen launched 10 uprisings until the success of the Xinhai Revolution in 1911.The biggest price of an armed uprising is certainly the loss of blood or life, but the cost to the economy is also huge.According to statistics from Jiang Yongjing, a Taiwan expert in modern history, the revolutionary funds consumed by the Tongmenghui were about 1.4 million Hong Kong dollars at that time.Faced with huge capital demand and uncertain fate, the revolutionaries’ financing channels were extremely limited. In order to meet the funding gap in the armed uprising, Sun Yat-sen issued bonds several times in the name of guilds, companies and revolutionary governments, and went around the world to raise funds for the armed uprising.

Many similarities between Sun Yat-sen’s Revolution and Web3 Digital Reform.

First of all, the China Tongmenghui founded by Sun Yat-sen can be compared with the indispensable DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) in Web3 reform. The China Tongmenghui DAO is composed of multiple sub-DAOs, with a unified charter and concept, and local bureaus will spread revolutionary concepts by themselves in light of local conditions. This not only ensures the unity of action goals, but also avoids the rigid process of action.

Secondly, during the bond issuance process, Sun Yat-sen realized that the vast number of overseas Chinese groups, especially overseas Chinese workers in Nanyang, strongly supported the revolutionary cause. What is the reason why some people eat a meal a day to save money to the revolutionary cause.

Taking “grassroots” as the object of revolution, virtual assets are very similar to this. A token can be split into up to one-tenth of 1,018. More enthusiastic users can participate in this digital digital with lower costs and investment.revolution.

Web3 can be said to be a large-scale democratic experiment, and the experimental content is to observe whether token holders can reach a consensus in the extremely decentralized governance rights.Sun Yat-sen innovatively used the new government’s “industrial rights” as collateral to increase the credit of the bonds.

Don’t forget,In 1911, “starting an industry” was still a pioneering thing.Using “industrial rights” as collateral, one can attract more revolutionaries who agree with the theory of “industrial development”; the other is that after the industry is completed, it can play a role in benefiting the country and the people. For example, many well-known Web3 projects will provide special rights to early supporters to attract and reward more enthusiastic users to participate in the project construction.

at the same time,Mr. Zhongshan deeply understands that seeking reform requires not only fundraising, but also increased publicity and public opinion..Therefore, during his overseas exile, he also founded several newspapers to promote ideas.Although most of these newspapers and magazines were suspended soon, they made an indelible contribution to awakening overseas Chinese groups and understanding the necessity of reform.Sun believes that “there are those who are enlightened in the crowd, and those who are enlightened in the future must be enlightened in the future and move forward together.”In other words, guiding public opinion is the responsibility of a few social pioneers. Using newspapers as public opinion tools to educate and awaken the people is his purpose of actively running newspapers.

In the “Minbao”, founded in Tokyo in November 1905, Sun Yat-sen proposed the Three Principles of the People for the first time in his founding speech. It is not difficult to find that in the release of revolutionary newspapers and the wave of Web3 reform, entrepreneurs issue NFTs (non-fungible tokens), expand community identity and promote project vision, which have similarities.

Just as Sun Yat-sen ran a newspaper back then, Web3 entrepreneurs use NFT as an introduction to attract a large number of people with common ideals to hold NFTs, form a community, and promote the next project vision. These NFT owners can be distributed in different communities to preach, create public opinion, and further promote projects.

Web3 and the Smart Country Plan

Singapore has been working tirelessly on building the world’s first smart country. In the construction strategy of Smart Country 2025, government services have changed from “government for you” to “government and you”, showing the decentralization of power, encouraging enterprises, people and government to work together to create value, and attract the concept of openness and innovation. All sectors of society participate in the construction of a smart country. This is very consistent with Sun Yat-sen’s vision of issuing bonds that year, and he will jointly build an ideal and intelligent country blueprint for freedom, equality and fraternity for a long time.

Therefore, when evaluating blockchain projects, government departments should not be blinded by the risks of digital assets, but ratherEthereum founder Vitalik said in his personal blog that using the characteristics of blockchain technology to establish a new consensus and trust mechanism between people, enterprises and governments.

In addition, the author also believes that if blockchain technology can be used to broaden the digital land area and establish digital citizenship, it will be of great reference value to Singapore, which has a highly developed society but has limited actual land area.Applying to become a digital citizen does not affect nationality or residence rights. However, after successful application, it can make it easier for applicants to register a company and apply for a bank account in Singapore. This move will be attractive to tech industry founders, blockchain entrepreneurs and digital novices.

Estonia, Europe, launched the e-citizenship program as early as 2014, but since this plan is not based on blockchain technology, there are still security risks of information leakage.Identity systems based on blockchain technology do not need to share sensitive information directly or explicitly. On the contrary, electronic data can be shared and authenticated through cryptography.

In addition, the recently developed strong zero-knowledge proof technology in the blockchain industry can share and authenticate identity information without leaking any information. This also shows that in the near future, the zero-knowledge proof mechanism can be used to perform identity authentication without revealing personal information.

The digital reform promoted by Web3 is unstoppable. As a highly digital society, Singapore has a great pioneering advantage in fully embracing blockchain technology. The author sincerely hopes to participate in this historical process, give full play to its strengths, and witness another digital transformation in Singapore.
