A new method called “BlobScriptions” to copy data to Ethereum blockchain is pushing the price of Blob cost, that is, the amount required for Blob includes in the Ethereum block.

BlobScriptions was introduced by an agreement called EthScriptions on March 27, allowing users to directly write data (from JPEG to text) to “BLOB”. These data were introduced into the Ethereum network as part of the network upgrade of the network on March 13.

According to the data of Ultrasound.Money,With less than 5 hours after the launch of BlobScriptions, Blob’s GAS costs soared to 585 GWEI, which is equivalent to about 18 US dollars.

This is far from the average GAS price of BlobScriptions before the cast data. The average is about 1 Wei, which is equivalent to a small part of $ 0.01.

However, BLOB costs have been significantly reduced since the new high.As of the release of this article, the BLOB cost is 35.8 GWEI, which is equivalent to $ 1.20.

At the same time, according to Dune Analytics data,Since the launch of BlobScriptions, users have left more than 4,500 inscriptions on Blob.

In the X post released on March 27, Tom Lehman, the founder of EthScriptions, pointed out that the cost of “Blobspace” soared, and urged users to create BlobScriptions through the official BlobScript protocol.

It is very similar to the early Bitcoin Ordinals. Ethereum users choose to cast a small piece of text and seemingly random image combinations to cause blobs. The recent event is BlobScrim.IO shows hundreds of new pictures in the past few hours.

It is worth noting that BLOB data is stored on Ethereum nodes for about 18 days, which means that after this period, BlobScript data will be deleted from the network. However, Lehman added that EthScriptions indexes will store data “indefinitely”.

BLOB is introduced by EIP-4844. EIP-4844 is the core data preservation function upgraded by Ethereum DENCUN, which is mainly dedicated to significantly reduced the trading cost of Layer 2 network.

After the upgrade of Dencun, the trading cost of Ethereum L2 decreased significantly, and Arbitrum’s drop costs plummeted from about $ 1.25 to less than $ 0.02, and Polygon’s costs also decreased similar amounts.

In order to praise the cost of BLOB, a Ethereum developer cast the entire script of “Bee Film” on the Ethereum Blob less than 15 minutes after upgrading and launch. All ETH miners cost less than $ 13.
