According to data shared by Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart, investment consulting firms currently control US$1.35 billion in Ethereum ETF holdings, corresponding to 539,757 ETH; in the past quarter, this type of institution has net increase of 219,668 ETH.
The investment advisory company’s holdings far exceed other institutional categories: hedge fund managers ranked second with US$687 million, corresponding to 274,757 ETH, an increase of 104% from the first quarter.
Goldman Sachs leads individual institutional holders with US$721.8 million in Ethereum ETF holdings, equivalent to 288,294 ETH.
Jane Street Group followed closely behind with $190.4 million in holdings, while Millennium Management’s ETF share held $186.9 million.
Centralized participation of Wall Street institutions,Indicates that traditional portfolios have recognized Ethereum as a legal asset class.
Brokerages became the third largest institutional category with US$253 million holdings, with a net increase of 13,525 ETH (up 15.4%) in the quarter.
Private equity firms and holding companies contributed $62.2 million and $60.6 million respectively; pension funds and banks reduced their holdings in Ethereum.
As of the end of the second quarter, the total holdings of Ethereum ETFs in all institutional categories tracked by Bloomberg Intelligence reached US$2.44 billion, corresponding to a total of 975,650 ETHs.
Judging from the current data,Institutional participation is expected to increase significantly in the third quarter.
According to Farside Investors, Ethereum ETF capital inflows soared from US$4.2 billion on June 30 to US$13.3 billion on August 26, an increase of more than three times, setting a record high for cumulative capital inflows.In August alone, the inflow of new funds reached about US$3.7 billion.
This growth trend echoes the continuous increase in adoption rate of Ethereum as a corporate treasury asset.According to data summarized by Strategic ETH Reserve, 17 listed companies currently hold 3.4 million ETH with a market value of nearly US$15.7 billion.
On August 26, SharpLink announced its latest move to increase its holdings, adding 56,533 ETH to its treasury, with a total holding of 797,704 ETH.However, this size is still far below BitMine’s 1,713,899 ETH (market value of nearly $8 billion).
