Data analysis: Why does the FarCaster ecosystem continue to be popular

Author: Sid Shekhar, Researcher Coinbase; Translation: 0xxz@作 作 作 作 作 作

We have seen an interesting phenomenon formed in the past few weeks.

Channel on Farcaster has become the center Xie Lin point formed by the formation of grass -roots communities.More than 43%of the Farcaster account holders have never issued any CAST.But nearly 70%of those who have sent CAST are sent on the channel.

In this article, I analyze the open CAST data and their usage of the channel, and see what the data tells us.

The average number of a FarCaster user Cast is ~ 8 channels!

Although this number is significantly affected by the top user on the user spectrum (such as @Degentokenbase robots in more than 2,000 channels), this is still a considerable average!

Observing it carefully, I chose the top 15 channels with the most followers, and found 7 channels related to/or/or FarCaster -related channels related to “encrypted native”, and the other 8 were general non -encrypted channels.Quite a balanced mix.

How overlap the use of their use over time on multiple channels?

The top 15 channels and their users on Farcaster overlap

Several things are noticeable.First of all, a large number of core channels (/Base,/Degen,/Farcaster, and/Frames) have a large number of users published in several of them.On the other hand, there are some very irrelevant non-encrypted channels, such as/tabletop (board game player) and/Front-End (front-end developer) have their own sub-communities.

Users with high channel activity

What if an average user is published in 8 channels, what is actually distributed? This distribution is displayed according to the number of channels released by the user:

>

It is difficult to understand which channel is a cognitive choice for a CAST to place to which channels to place to, so it makes sense for 2-4 channels to become the biggest distribution. This is similar to a restaurant’s buffet meter -you will eventually choose a few dishes in some habits and comfort.

However, it is interesting:

21%of users are not published on the channel at all (mostly the first CAST),

Almost the same number of users (19%) are frequent channel actors (published in more than 10 channels).

Theme dispersal

So which channels have received the most attention?

As we saw earlier, a method of classification channels is to divide between the “encrypted native” channel and a more general channel-the cluster shown on the right side of the figure below.

Farcaster channel (larger bubbles mean more followers)

As the emerging features of the Farcaster plus dense native channel, it organically produces a highly involved sub -community.From large channels such as/deGen and/NOUNS to several smaller channels that have emerged in the past few weeks-/Higher,/Sendit, and infamous/TICKER-Many have one of the Memecoin or NFT named by themThe names gathered by collectibles.

Although it is difficult to see general non-encrypted channels like/Founders or/Front-End condensed around a tokens, you can imagine that each encrypted native channel on the FarCaster network and some kind of token or chain assetsRelated.

Reddit, Farcaster and the future road

Last week, Reddit made an IPO with a valuation of $ 7 billion-after 19 years after its establishment, millions of users and posts. For a certain part of the Internet, Reddit is their de facto “Internet homepage” -the central hub provided and planned by its users-including news, discussion, viewpoints and entertainment.Similarity between Reddit and Farcaster has been widely recorded.

What about Subreddits compared with Farcaster’s theme space?

Subreddits (larger bubbles mean more subscribers)

In addition to R/Funny’s protruding above other, you can see all 20M-30M subscribers of general themes on the spectrals on the spectral-Many of them are preliminaryFollow.

The channel on Farcaster was originally described as “decentralized Subreddit”, when it first launched last year. For those who start using Farcaster, the entire platform looks like a large cryptocurrency Subreddit. However, with the growth of the network, it is interesting to see the growth of new channels, including both the theme of “encrypted native” and a more obvious general theme.

There are nearly 5,000 channels on Reddit more than 100,000 Subreddit and Farcaster, and some themes (such as “Memes”) have large communities in both.

With the maturity of Farcaster and a full-featured client selection (not only limited to WarpCast), it will be interesting to see which path becomes more dominant-a professional, encrypted native sub-community network or has more moreExtensive attraction is more commonly used in the general channel of Reddit.

Channels, including their hosting and management methods (through channel PASS), and communities around them, will play a vital role in shaping the future direction and identity of the network. As users continue to enter and jump out of different channels, they will jointly determine the types and dialogue types that define the FarCaster experience.
