Scroll is a Layer 2 expansion solution in Ethereum, which is designed as “ZKEVM”, that is, ZK-Rollup compatible with Ethereum virtual machine (EVM).

Scroll’s working principle
At the core level, Scroll operates through a seamless multi -layer system.Its settlement layer acts as a bridge between Ethereum and Scroll to ensure the availability and sorting of L2 data, and verify the validity proof of ZKEVM.
Synchronized with this system is the order layer and responsible for the implementation of the transaction.It combines the efforts of executing nodes, the node processing transactions sent to Scroll, and the Rollup node. The node organizes these transactions into batch and publishes it to Ethereum to ensure data availability.In addition, the Rollup node submits effective proof of effectiveness to Ethereum, which is essential for the ultimate nature of the transaction.
Provide these layers to provide a proof layer, which is specifically used to generate ZKEVM validity proof to ensure the correctness of L2 transactions.This layer includes a set of proofers and a coordinator who not only generates these proofs, but also sends it to the Ethereum blockchain to final confirmation.
